It is normal for surprises to occur. So expect that they will happen. And when they happen, accept that they have happened. Don’t live in denial. And if you don’t like the surprise, and it is within your power to change it, then by all lawful and moral means, do change it. But if not, you must endure it. This to me is what it means to be mature. And in times like these, you need a mature response, not an emotional reaction. Don’t surrender your thinking to the reptilian brain. Instead, summon up the values and principles in your spirit man. Let it stimulate your critical thinking. Then do what you must. Not what you want!
