The University of Abuja and Tanta University, Egypt, have signed a memorandum of understanding for joint cooperation to support and facilitate the framework for joint cooperation in higher education and scientific research between the two universities. The MoU will also ensure the training of academic staff and exchange of experience between the two institutions as well as enable students of the UofA study in Tanta University. The University of Abuja was represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic, Professor Aisha Maikudi and Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration, Professor Philip Afaha, Professor Sulaiman Alabi Yusuf and Dr Taher Abdelaal both of the Department of Arabic Language, while Tanta University was represented by the Deputy President Academic, Prof. Mohammed Hussain Mahmoud; and the Director of International Relations and International Students Affairs, Prof. Mahmoud Shakl. Also present at the signing was the Deputy Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to Egypt, Mr Adesoye Samotu.
