Scripture Reading: Matthew 14:25-29

“And in the fourth watch of the night (3:00-6:00 a.m.) Jesus came to them, walking on the sea. When the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were terrified, and said, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out in fear. But immediately He spoke to them, saying, “Take courage, it is I! Do not be afraid!” Peter replied to Him, “Lord, if it is [really] You, command me to come to You on the water.” He said, “Come!” So Peter got out of the boat, and walked on the water and came toward Jesus.”(AMP)

As I will concluding this series today, it’s my earnest prayer that may respond to this eternal invitation by our Lord Jesus Christ.

4) Come Unto Me And I Will Give You Power: Another promises I will talk about and that is necessity for christian journey is power. The Lord Jesus Christ indeed promised to empower his children so as to enable them do His work effectively. From the above scripture, Jesus asked peter to COME. That’s, he should also walk on the water just as He did. And truly, Peter responded to the command and he indeed receive the power and walk on the sea just as Jesus the savior walked.

NOTE: Jesus didn’t generalize it to everyone but to Peter that want to know more, He said to him “COME”. It’s a general invitation but address individual differently just as in the case of Peter amidst others disciples. While his taking a step of going further, others were watching him until he exercise the power giving by the savior that commanded him to COME.

In conclusion, did you notice that, although there are two invitations, the promise attached to the two invitations is exactly the same? Jesus says, “Come unto me all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me and you will find rest unto your souls.” The way to find rest is to lose our burden at the cross and allow Christ to put his burden and yoke upon us instead.

Freedom is not found in discarding the yoke of Christ; it’s found in losing our own burden. It’s not found in discarding his authority; it’s an amazing truth that freedom is found under the yoke of Christ. This is one of the great paradoxes of the Christian life: under his yoke we find rest; through service we find freedom; when we lose ourselves in loving, we find ourselves; when we die to our self-centeredness, we begin to live. Good morning and do have a great day, peace.

Prayer point: Lord Jesus, as I lay down my burden at your feet, help me Lord to release myself to you totally to become what you want me to become in Jesus Christ name. Amen!
