Scripture Reading: Philippians 2:15

“so that you may prove yourselves to be blameless and guileless, innocent and uncontaminated, children of God without blemish in the midst of a [morally] crooked and [spiritually] perverted generation, among whom you are seen as bright lights [beacons shining out clearly] in the world [of darkness]”(AMP)

The purpose of every light is to dispel darkness. Christ’s statement in verse 14a implies that the world is in darkness. Some of the darkness is as result of being ignorant of the light especially the light of God’s word and some is as a result of willfully rejecting the light! Light cannot be anything other than what it is. It is bright, it dispels darkness; it enables people to see what they are doing. As today’s Scripture urge that we should be innocent and uncontaminated due to the worldly system.

Christ, this morning is strongly urging you and me and all his followers to  “let your light shine” (Matthew 5:16a).

To “Shine” means “to give light” but It is unfortunate that some lights have become dim that it cannot illuminate the darkness. So many believers are carried away with activities and by so doing, their light has been contaminated.

As sons of God and as followers of Christ, we are to “shine as lights in the world’’. The war between the children of Light and children of darkness is inevitable because the lives of faithful children are a silent rebuke to those who live ungodly and this can lead to persecution. (Matthew 5:10-12.)

However, light does not just expose ugliness. It provides the illumination needed to correct ugliness- (David Roper). Light creates the way men needs to follow. And that’s why the scripture says; “Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.” A man without light, is a man without purpose because only the light(Jesus) that gives purpose. To be continue tomorrow morning by God’s Grace. Good morning and do have a great weekend, peace.

Prayer point: Lord, help me to be conscious of my purpose of living, and that my light will not be contaminated in Jesus Christ name. Amen!
