Scripture Reading: Deuteronomy 31:6

“Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble in dread before them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not fail you or abandon you.”(AMP)

I greatly welcome you to the month of APRIL. In this month, you will see Great things of Joy in Jesus Christ name. Amen!

Before the death of Moses, he charged the children of Israelites since he could no longer continue the journey with them, not to allow FEAR into their heart, that just as the Lord destroy sihon and Og, He will also destroy all their enemies on the way to the promise Land. FEAR, is an obstacles in possessing great things.

In the above scripture, we could see the two strong word used by Moses, “STRONG AND COURAGE”. How does it relate to fear? The next point will bring more light to it:

6) BE STRONG AND OF GOOD COURAGE:
When Moses died, Israel lost a great leader. Now, it was time for Joshua to take the baton. However, the Israelites were afraid. They didn’t know whether Joshua would have the same authority and leadership skills as what they saw in Moses.

During this time, Joshua needed encouragement. The people were afraid and they also need an assurance from God. In Joshua 1, you will see the command, “Be strong and of good courage” had been repeated three times, signifying finality.

We read one of them: “Have I not commanded you? BE STRONG AND OF GOOD COURAGE; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9, compare verse 6 and 7). Instead of fearing, God encourages these people to be strong and be courageous. But what does this mean? It means that they should not stay weak. They must be strong in the LORD. They must obtain their strength from the Supreme Eternal God.

Being strong isn’t enough but they must also be courageous. Being courageous means that they should have the confidence to do what God wants them to do. Though things may not seem to go your way, being courageous means that you are able to move forward as you trust God.

God specifically describes the type of courage that they should have. It should be a ‘GOOD courage.’ People can be brave without having the right wisdom. They can be reckless, not fearing anything. For them, that’s how to be brave.

However, God wants Joshua and the Israelites to have a different kind of courage, to have the courage to do what is right and proper in God’s eyes. By being strong and courageous, YOU CAN DEFINITELY OVERCOME FEAR. We shall bring these series of teaching to an end tomorrow by God’s Grace! You shall be greatly helped in Jesus Christ name. Good morning and do have a lovely Easter Monday, peace.

Prayer points: I receive Grace to stand firm in the Lord and turn my ears against the deceit of the devil in Jesus Christ name. Amen!
