In life, nothing is impossible; it is merely a matter of perspective. Do not let others dictate your limitations, as history has proven that even the most unlikely scenarios, such as a female president in Africa, can become a reality. Ultimately, you are the only one who can hinder your progress, as no external force possesses the power to make you fail. Various situations may not present themselves as they truly are, and our perceptions can be skewed by distractions. Interestingly, individuals with visual impairments, such as the renowned music producer Cobhams and the celebrated musician Stevie Wonder, have achieved remarkable success despite their limitations. Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti has commended the past service commanders who served in the State for their good services rendered to ensure security of lives and property in the State. Governor Alex Otti gave the commendation on Friday, June 20th at the Banquet Hall of Government House, Umuahia during a send-forth ceremony organised by the State Government for 5 out-gone service commanders who served in Abia State. "I want to use this opportunity to thank you so much for the service that you rendered to our State. It is also an opportunity to thank the current service commanders for carrying on from where you left the battle." Governor Alex Otti said that hosting out-gone service commanders has become a tradition of his administration and assured them that Abia State is still their home. "This is a tradition we have established in this State. That, if our service commanders who have served for not less than a year are leaving, we celebrate them. And, we give them small parting gifts to remember when they were here (in Abia). And like the commander of the Nigerian Navy said, it is also a way of encouraging those who are serving to put in their best. Knowing fully well that one day, it will be their turn." "So, I would like to tell the out-gone service commanders that you have a home here in Abia. You can always come anytime to visit us," Gov. Otti assured. The Governor said that based on the cooperation and support of the service commanders, the State was able to cage insecurity and criminal activities. "That, we were able to cage insecurity, kidnapping, armed robbery, banditry, just name it, is because of you. And we were very deliberate about it. These are fine gentlemen who are properly trained," Gov. Otti stated. In their responses, some of the celebrants, including Brigadier General O.O Diya of the Nigerian Army, Navy Captain O. A. Eyitayo of the Nigerian Navy, Dr. Shelema Muhammed Soso of the DSS and Chidi Nnadi of the NDLEA expressed gratitude to Governor Alex Otti for the honour done them and said that, it would encourage the service commanders serving currently in Abia State. THE KILLERS OF KADUNA STATE CITIZENS IN MANGU LG OF PLATEAU STATE MUST BE BROUGHT TO JUSTICE We received with shock and deep sorrow news of the killing of 12 Kaduna State citizens in the troubled Mangun District of Mangu Local Government, Plateau State. 11 others sustained various degrees of injuries. The innocent travellers met their deaths while traveling to Quan Pan Local Government of Plateau State for a wedding ceremony. We condemn in the strongest terms these acts of savagery. The criminals must be fished out and dealt with accordingly. We call on security agencies to leave no stone unturned until these criminal elements are hunted down and brought to justice. We must put a stop to the nefarious activities of non-state actors. There is no justification for anybody to attack any citizen of Nigeria in any part of the country. This madness must stop. Enough is enough. I also call on the Plateau State Governor, His Excellency, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang to use this unfortunate incident to make a bold statement. He must take full charge of the situation and direct the operations of the security agencies until the murderers are brought to justice. I will personally follow up on the progress made in the investigations and field operations in search of the criminals. We must send a clear signal that impunity will no longer be tolerated. Let me use this opportunity to call on the citizens of Kaduna State to remain calm. All hands are on deck to ensure that our murdered citizens get justice. We have made remarkable progress in peace building and conflict transformation in Kaduna State. The Kaduna Peace Model is a pointer to the fact that with political will, commitment and sincerity of purpose, a toxic environment can be turned to an "oasis of peace". The situation in Plateau State is not irredeemable. The bloodshed must stop. Our deepest condolences to the families of our citizens who lost their precious lives in Mangu Local Government. I am in touch with the families of the victims. We shall do all in our power to lessen their pains. We shall also ensure that the injured victims receive adequate medical attention. May the gentle souls of our departed citizens rest in perfect peace. Senator Uba Sani, CON Governor, Kaduna State. June 21st, 2025

Fear of Assassination: Iran’s leader Khamenei chooses three successors, skips son The Islamic Republic of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has reportedly handpicked three potential successors in case he is killed during Israel’s ongoing military campaign — a revelation that signals unprecedented urgency inside Tehran’s highest ranks. According to an investigative report by The New York Times on Saturday, the 86-year-old Supreme Leader, now operating from a fortified bunker, privately named three senior clerics to assume power should he die during the conflict. The Times cites “senior Iranian officials” who say Khamenei made the selections after a string of high-level assassinations by Israeli forces. Significantly, Khamenei’s influential son, Mojtaba, long rumoured to be groomed for succession, was not included in the list. This marks a dramatic shift from years of speculation that a dynastic handover was being engineered behind the scenes, Jerusalem Post also reports on Saturday. “Khamenei has nominated three clerics as potential successors while hiding in a bunker… Mojtaba is not among them,” reported The New York Times, citing confidential Iranian sources close to the leadership. Meanwhile, The Jerusalem Post corroborated the report, noting that the Supreme Leader has also “selected replacements down his military chain of command” in anticipation of further Israeli strikes that could decimate his inner circle. Under normal conditions, Iran’s Supreme Leader is chosen by the Assembly of Experts — an 88-member clerical body. But Khamenei’s reported actions suggest he is attempting to shape that outcome in advance, potentially bypassing traditional structures to preserve his ideological legacy and prevent internal fractures. Analysts say the selection of three clerics, rather than one, reflects both a lack of consensus within Iran’s ruling elite and the urgency of contingency planning as the threat level escalates. While names have not been officially released, the report indicates the candidates are figures trusted by Khamenei and aligned with the regime’s hardline core. Implications Beyond Iran The move has immediate geopolitical consequences. With the region on edge following Israeli strikes on senior Iranian and Hezbollah commanders, the specter of regime instability could further inflame the Middle East. It also raises questions about the viability of Iran’s leadership structure should Khamenei be incapacitated. “Khamenei’s action signals a regime that sees the risk of decapitation as real,” said a senior regional intelligence official quoted in The New York Times. “It is succession planning not in theory — but under fire.” – At jaconna we support peace, follow us on Jaconna on all social media.
